Hemp is the world’s strongest vegan natural fiber (strongest natural fiber after spider web) and growing hemp can be done without the use of fungicides, insecticides or herbicides. Hemp improves and cleanses the earth and hemp was actually used to regenerate the soil after the Chernobyl disaster. The production of hemp is carbon negative and hemp requires considerably less water than other crops.

With proper care, you will get decades of use out of your Freshemp™ jacket. The environmental cost of buying new jackets every few years is staggering, but with your Freshemp™ jacket you won't need a new coat for years!
You would be hard-pressed to find a company which produces a high quality winter coat that is more kind to the environment than these Freshemp™ jackets.
Hemp is a carbon sink, it absorbs more CO2 than any other crop. It improves soil quality wherever it grows and returns nitrogen to the soil at an unparalleled rate.
Its roots prevent soil erosion, while also helping to prevent soil compaction, leaving the earth in a better condition than before the hemp was planted.
Hemp uses 4x less water than cotton, and only half the land to produce the same amount of fibre.
Hemp requires absolutely no chemicals during the growth, harvesting and processing stages required to produce the final fabric. It's oh so natural, and amazingly eco-friendly!
The other materials used in these jackets are as environmentally friendly as can be. They use organic cotton, and a PFC-free water-resistant treatment made from hemp cellulose! It's really quite incredible what the fantastic hemp plant can offer.
These are 100% vegan jackets, using no animal products and no animal testing.
Freshemp™ Originals are proud to present the return of the classic Hemp Works/Hoodlamb jackets from Amsterdam. Durable, eco-friendly hemp jackets with the softest fake fur lining!
When co-founders Adam Dunn (New York) and Douglas Mignola (San Francisco) met in Amsterdam in 1993, they came up with a vision. Their idea? To make a jacket that looked great on the outside, and made you feel good on the inside! They were focused on creating a quality garment that would be useful for everyday wear, while also being environmentally friendly. Their driving force, their goal, is to make sustainable clothing using cutting-edge techniques and eco-friendly materials. They listen to customer's feedback and work closely with their factories to make their jackets as good as they can be. They turned an environmentally-friendly jacket into a must-have piece of clothing.
"Hemp Works" was the original company, later to become "Hoodlamb", and now the jackets are back under the name "Freshemp™".
The hemp is organically grown and sourced directly from farms where it is hand sowed and harvested, thereby creating some of the best hemp fiber in the world. After harvest, the raw fiber is spun into the fine, strong hemp thread that is used to weave their custom, sustainable fabrics.
All of their fabric dyes are fibre reactive. They hand-select each dye to achieve the best possible colour-fastness while using less than 50% the water required for conventional dyes.
Their environmentally friendly water-resistant coating is made from natural cellulose derived from the inner core of the hemp stalk. It shows outstanding performance in wet, windy or cold conditions.
Freshemp™ clothing and accessories are made from cruelty-free sources and are naturally free of harsh chemicals and toxins that can harm the skin. No animal products were used in the making of their collection.
Their shell and fleece fabrics contain organic approved yarns and OCS Certified cotton. All source materials were grown without insecticides, herbicides or fungicides, and for this reason their products are allergen free, breathable and very durable.
Thermore® EcoDown® - The only thermal insulation made from 100% recycled fibres, offers excellent warmth and comfort. Each Freshemp™ jacket insulated with Thermore EcoDown recycles up to 10 bottles and saves enough energy to keep a 10W light on for 100 hours.
Hemp Fever was real in the 90's, the epitomous hemp leaf was the most used symbol of the year, while leading musicians were all talking about hemp in their songs. It was during this golden age that Hemp Works was born.
When co-founders Adam Dunn (from New York) and Douglas Mignola (from San Francisco) met in Amsterdam, they had similar mindsets and together started the first-ever hemp store in Europe: Hemp Works. Neither of them was from the fashion industry, but they had a great concept in mind: making a really good-looking hemp product that would also be eco-friendly. They had to learn fast and little by little they turned their products into real urban Amsterdam icons.
The Hemp Works quickly gained worldwide recognition as “The epicenter of the Hemp Universe,” - Robert C. Clarke. The Hemp Works jackets became the rockstar of their shop, and they started selling like hotcakes. You could even see well-known artists like Woody Harrelson, Redman, B-Real and Astro from UB40 wearing these jackets, and even Snoop Dogg dancing in his Hemp Works jacket in the snow on MTV.
