Hempiness have yet another winner for us with this pure Organic Hemp webbing. Need something that is properly tough? With Hemp's legendary tensile strength, its breaking strain is the strongest in the entire plant kingdom, you'll never be let down by this fantastic product.

This natural untreated webbing is a joy to work with, it's easy to sew, while being very tough and durable. It's highly versatile, with a wide range of uses. This organic webbing material is sure to impress, whether you're using it for upholstery, bag straps/reinforcement, watch straps, belts, shoemaking, pet collars, general arts and crafts or anything else you can dream of!

It is perfect for making dog collars, cat collars, dog leads, harnesses and toys. We have had some fantastic feedback from professional dog trainers saying that hemp is the best material they've found for pets, as it is kind to their skin and fur. It's hypoallergenic, antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, so it stays fresh and germ-free! It's also super strong and durable, which is vitally important as you need to be able to rely on the strength of your collar and lead for your pet's safety.

Both webbing and strapping are a similar thickness but the strapping is a little softer and more pliable, where the webbing is more rigid and tough. The webbing has a canvas like weave, and the Strapping more of a seat-belt weave. If uncertain which you need, please order a swatch piece here.

If you're thinking of dyeing your webbing, we offer a range eco fibre reactive dyes which can be easily used in your washing machine at home. Follow this link for the range of colours. We also sell a range of coloured webbing in a variety of sizes.

The Eco Friendly Choice

Our hemp webbing is a fantastic environmentally friendly alternative to nylon, polypropylene or polyester synthetic webbing. Before synthetic materials, hemp was the natural fibre of choice when you need a strong, durable and hard-wearing textile. The long fibres of the hemp plant have 5x the tensile strength of cotton, and when weaved into strapping they are even stronger. Hemp webbing is biodegradable, whereas synthetic plastic based webbing sheds microscopic pieces of plastic into the environment, which work their way into the soil and waterways, entering the food chain, thus polluting the environment and harming the health of living creatures (including us!). Hemp is the planet-friendly, non-polluting alternative to synthetic webbing.

From the moment each hemp plant is put into the ground, they begin benefiting the planet. Hemp is nature's greatest carbon sink, absorbing more CO2 in its short 3-4month growing season than any other plant. Hemp plants also clean the soil, and improve soil quality. They help to prevent soil erosion, and soil compaction, while pulling out toxins from the earth. They are a nitrogen enricher, meaning that they return more nutrients to the soil than they take from it. hemp requires 4x less water than cotton, and produces 2x the yield per acre. Finally, hemp plants require absolutely no chemicals during growing, harvesting and processing into textiles. Compare this to the cotton industry, which uses 25% of all agricultural chemicals on the planet, and you can see why hemp is the greatest eco-friendly choice when it comes to natural fibres!
